Delicious and Easy Apple Strudels Recipe
“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”
― L. M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables
Octobers means fall, and fall means apples. Apples call for strudels!
Ingredients:
- Puff pastry with butter
- 1 Egg white
- 1 tbs Sugar
Filling:
- 5 apples (ideally McIntosh) peeled, cored and cubed
- 3 tbsp. Tablespoon sugar or brown sugar
- 1 tbsp. Ground cinnamon
- 1 tbsp. Lemon juice
Instructions:
- Filling - In a saucepan, combine the apple cubes, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, stirring, until the apples soften. Remove from heat and let cool.
- Dough - Defrost the dough following the instructions on the box. Once the dough is defrosted, unroll it and cut it into large triangles. Each triangle will form an apple pie.
- Fill with filling - About 1 tbsp. per triangle. Fold the dough over the apples to form a smaller triangle. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with sugar.
- Cooking - Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the turnovers are golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.
