Delicious and Easy Apple Strudels Recipe

“I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.”

― L. M. Montgomery, Anne of Green Gables

Octobers means fall, and fall means apples. Apples call for strudels!

Ingredients:

  • Puff pastry with butter
  • 1 Egg white
  • 1 tbs Sugar

Filling:

  • 5 apples (ideally McIntosh) peeled, cored and cubed
  • 3 tbsp. Tablespoon sugar or brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp. Ground cinnamon
  • 1 tbsp. Lemon juice

Instructions:

  1. Filling - In a saucepan, combine the apple cubes, sugar, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil, stirring, until the apples soften. Remove from heat and let cool.
  2. Dough - Defrost the dough following the instructions on the box. Once the dough is defrosted, unroll it and cut it into large triangles. Each triangle will form an apple pie.
  3. Fill with filling - About 1 tbsp. per triangle. Fold the dough over the apples to form a smaller triangle. Brush with egg white and sprinkle with sugar.
  4. Cooking - Place the turnovers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Preheat the oven to 400°F (205°C). Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, until the turnovers are golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack.
